In this tutorial we learn how to install pyxtrlock on Fedora 34.

What is pyxtrlock

pyxtrlock, like its predecessor xtrlock, is a very minimal X display lock program. While pyxtrlock is running, it does not obscure the screen, only the mouse and keyboard are grabbed and the mouse cursor becomes a padlock. Output displayed by X programs, and windows put up by new X clients, continue to be visible, and any new output is displayed normally.

We can use yum or dnf to install pyxtrlock on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pyxtrlock.

Install pyxtrlock on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install pyxtrlock using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install pyxtrlock

Install pyxtrlock on Fedora 34 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

How To Uninstall pyxtrlock on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the pyxtrlock package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove pyxtrlock
