How To Install ntsysv on Fedora 34

ntsysv is A tool to set the stop/start of system services in a runlevel

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install ntsysv on Fedora 34.

What is ntsysv

Ntsysv provides a simple interface for setting which system services are started or stopped in various runlevels (instead of directly manipulating the numerous symbolic links in /etc/rc.d). Unless you specify a runlevel or runlevels on the command line (see the man page), ntsysv configures the current runlevel (5 if you’re using X).

We can use yum or dnf to install ntsysv on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ntsysv.

Install ntsysv on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install ntsysv using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install ntsysv

Install ntsysv on Fedora 34 Using yum

How To Uninstall ntsysv on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the ntsysv package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove ntsysv
