How To Install nawk on Fedora 34

nawk is “The one true awk” descended from UNIX V7

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install nawk on Fedora 34.

What is nawk

This is the version of awk described in “The AWK Programming Language”, by Al Aho, Brian Kernighan, and Peter Weinberger. (Addison-Wesley, 1988, ISBN 0-201-07981-X).

We can use yum or dnf to install nawk on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install nawk.

Install nawk on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install nawk using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install nawk

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

How To Uninstall nawk on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the nawk package we can use the following command:
