How To Install luit on Fedora 34

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install luit on Fedora 34.

What is luit

luit is a filter that can be run between an arbitrary application and a UTF-8 terminal emulator such as xterm. It will convert application output from the locale’s encoding into UTF-8, and convert terminal input from UTF-8 into the locale’s encoding.

We can use yum or dnf to install luit on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install luit.

Install luit on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install luit using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install luit

How To Uninstall luit on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the luit package we can use the following command:
