How To Install libASL on Fedora 34

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libASL on Fedora 34.

What is libASL

Advanced Simulation Library (ASL) is a free and open source hardware accelerated multiphysics simulation platform (and an extensible general purpose tool for solving Partial Differential Equations). Its computational engine is written in OpenCL and utilizes matrix-free solution techniques which enable extraordinarily high performance, memory efficiency and deployability on a variety of massively parallel architectures, ranging from inexpensive FPGAs, DSPs and GPUs up to heterogeneous clusters and supercomputers. The engine is hidden entirely behind simple C++ classes, so that no OpenCL knowledge is required from application programmers. Mesh-free, immersed boundary approach allows to move from CAD directly to simulation drastically reducing pre-processing efforts and amount of potential errors. ASL can be used to model various coupled physical and chemical phenomena and employed in a multitude of fields process data validation and reconciliation, image-guided surgery, computer-aided engineering, design space exploration, crystallography, etc.. libASL 0.1.7 29.fc34 x86_64 724 k libASL-0.1.7-29.fc34.src.rpm updates Advanced Simulation Library hardware accelerated multiphysics simulation platform http AGPLv3 and BSD and MIT Advanced Simulation Library (ASL) is a free and open source hardware accelerated multiphysics simulation platform (and an extensible general purpose tool for solving Partial Differential Equations). We can use yum or dnf to install libASL on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libASL.

Install libASL on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

Fedora 34 - x86_64 20 kB/s | 6.6 kB 00:00
Fedora 34 openh264 (From Cisco) - x86_64 1.4 kB/s | 989 B 00:00
Fedora Modular 34 - x86_64 68 kB/s | 6.5 kB 00:00

Fedora Modular 34 - x86_64 - Updates 17 kB/s | 5.9 kB 00:00
Metadata cache created.

After updating yum database, We can install libASL using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install libASL

After updating yum database, We can install libASL using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install libASL

How To Uninstall libASL on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the libASL package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove libASL
