How To Install libaec on Fedora 34

libaec is Adaptive Entropy Coding library Adaptive Entropy Coding library

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libaec on Fedora 34.

What is libaec

Libaec provides fast loss-less compression of 1 up to 32 bit wide signed or unsigned integers (samples). The library achieves best results for low entropy data as often encountered in space imaging instrument data or numerical model output from weather or climate simulations. While floating point representations are not directly supported, they can also be efficiently coded by grouping exponents and mantissa. Libaec implements Golomb Rice coding as defined in the Space Data System Standard documents 121.0-B-2 and 120.0-G-2. Libaec includes a free drop-in replacement for the SZIP library (http libaec 1.0.5 1.fc34 x86_64 41 k libaec-1.0.5-1.fc34.src.rpm updates Adaptive Entropy Coding library https BSD Libaec provides fast loss-less compression of 1 up to 32 bit wide signed or unsigned integers (samples). We can use yum or dnf to install libaec on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libaec.

Install libaec on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

Fedora 34 - x86_64 20 kB/s | 6.6 kB 00:00
Fedora 34 openh264 (From Cisco) - x86_64 1.4 kB/s | 989 B 00:00

Fedora Modular 34 - x86_64 - Updates 17 kB/s | 5.9 kB 00:00
Metadata cache created.

After updating yum database, We can install libaec using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install libaec
