How To Install hid4java on Fedora 34

hid4java is Java wrapper for the hidapi library

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install hid4java on Fedora 34.

What is hid4java

hid4java supports USB HID devices through a common API. The API is very simple but provides great flexibility such as support for feature reports and blocking reads with timeouts. Attach/detach events are provided to allow applications to respond instantly to device availability.

We can use yum or dnf to install hid4java on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install hid4java.

Install hid4java on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

Metadata cache created.

After updating yum database, We can install hid4java using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install hid4java

Install hid4java on Fedora 34 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

How To Uninstall hid4java on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the hid4java package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove hid4java
