In this tutorial we learn how to install file on Fedora 34.

What is file

The file command is used to identify a particular file according to the type of data contained by the file. File can identify many different file types, including ELF binaries, system libraries, RPM packages, and different graphics formats.

We can use yum or dnf to install file on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install file.

Install file on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install file using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install file
