How To Install fatsort on Fedora 34

fatsort is FAT sorter for FAT16 and FAT32 filesystems

In this tutorial we learn how to install fatsort on Fedora 34.

What is fatsort

Fatsort is a utility written in C to sort FAT16 and FAT32 filesystems. It is needed to sort files on cheap mp3 players that display files not sorted by their name but by the order they appear in the file allocation table (FAT).

We can use yum or dnf to install fatsort on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install fatsort.

Install fatsort on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install fatsort using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install fatsort

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

How To Uninstall fatsort on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the fatsort package we can use the following command:
