on Fedora 34.
What is devilspie2
Devilspie2 is a window matching utility, allowing the user to perform scripted actions on windows as they are created. For example you can script a terminal program to always be positioned at a specific screen position, or position a window on a specific workspace. It is based on the program Devilspie by Ross Burton.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install devilspie2
on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install devilspie2.
Install devilspie2 on Fedora 34 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install devilspie2
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install devilspie2
