How To Install 9pfs on Fedora 34

9pfs is Plan9 filesystem server

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install 9pfs on Fedora 34.

What is 9pfs

Protocol 9P is developed for Plan9 operating system from Bell Labs. It is used for remote file access, and since files are key objects in Plan9, 9P can be used also for composite file access, RPC etc. This package contains simple file server for the 9p protocoll.

We can use yum or dnf to install 9pfs on Fedora 34. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install 9pfs.

Install 9pfs on Fedora 34 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install 9pfs using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install 9pfs

Install 9pfs on Fedora 34 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

How To Uninstall 9pfs on Fedora 34

To uninstall only the 9pfs package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove 9pfs
