How To Install litecoind on Debian 11
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install litecoind on Debian 11.
What is litecoind
litecoind is:
Litecoin is a free open source peer-to-peer electronic cash system that is completely decentralized, without the need for a central server or trusted parties. Users hold the crypto keys to their own money and transact directly with each other, with the help of a P2P network to check for double-spending. Litecoin is a fork of Bitcoin.
By default connects to an IRC network to discover other peers.
Full transaction history is stored locally at each client. This requires 5+ GB of space, slowly growing.
This package provides the daemon (litecoind), and the CLI tool to interact with the daemon.
There are three methods to install litecoind on Debian 11. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install litecoind Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install litecoind using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install litecoind
Install litecoind Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install litecoind using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install litecoind
Install litecoind Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install litecoind using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install litecoind
How To Uninstall litecoind on Debian 11
To uninstall only the litecoind package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove litecoind
Uninstall litecoind And Its Dependencies
To uninstall litecoind and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove litecoind
Remove litecoind Configurations and Data
To remove litecoind configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge litecoind
Remove litecoind configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove litecoind configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge litecoind
