How To Install mtpaint on Debian 10

In this tutorial we learn how to install mtpaint on Debian 10.
What is mtpaint
mtpaint is:
mtPaint is a free, open source graphic editing program which uses the GTK+ toolkit. It is geared towards creating indexed palette images and pixel art.
Due to its efficient design it can run on older PC hardware (e.g. a 200MHz CPU and 32MB of RAM). It can edit indexed palette or 24 bit RGB images and offers basic painting and palette manipulation tools.
It is aimed to be simple and easy to use. it also can handle JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP, XPM, and XBM files.
There are three methods to install mtpaint on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mtpaint Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mtpaint using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mtpaint
Install mtpaint Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mtpaint using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mtpaint
Install mtpaint Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mtpaint using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mtpaint
How To Uninstall mtpaint on Debian 10
To uninstall only the mtpaint package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mtpaint
Uninstall mtpaint And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mtpaint and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mtpaint
Remove mtpaint Configurations and Data
To remove mtpaint configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mtpaint
