How To Install xsettingsd on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xsettingsd
on CentOS 8.
What is xsettingsd
xsettingsd is a daemon that implements the XSETTINGS specification. It is intended to be small, fast, and minimally dependent on other libraries. It can serve as an alternative to gnome-settings-daemon for users who are not using the GNOME desktop environment but who still run GTK+ applications and want to configure things such as themes, font anti-aliasing/hinting, and UI sound effects.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install xsettingsd
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install xsettingsd.
Install xsettingsd on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install xsettingsd
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install xsettingsd
Install xsettingsd on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.

How To Uninstall xsettingsd on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the xsettingsd
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove xsettingsd
