How To Install x2goagent on CentOS 8

x2goagent is X2Go Server’s X2Go Agent

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install x2goagent on CentOS 8.

What is x2goagent

X2Go is a server based computing environment with - session resuming - low bandwidth support - session brokerage support - client side mass storage mounting support - client side printing support - audio support - authentication by smartcard and USB stick X2Go Agent functionality has been completely incorporated into nxagent’s code base. If the nxagent binary is executed under the name of “x2goagent”, the X2Go functionalities get activated. The x2goagent package is a wrapper that activates X2Go branding in nxagent. Please refer to the nxagent package’s description for more information on NX.

We can use yum or dnf to install x2goagent on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install x2goagent.

Install x2goagent on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install x2goagent using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install x2goagent

Install x2goagent on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall x2goagent on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the x2goagent package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove x2goagent
