How To Install voms-server on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install voms-server
on CentOS 8.
What is voms-server
The Virtual Organization Membership Service (VOMS) is an attribute authority which serves as central repository for VO user authorization information, providing support for sorting users into group hierarchies, keeping track of their roles and other attributes in order to issue trusted attribute certificates and SAML assertions used in the Grid environment for authorization purposes. This package provides the VOMS service.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install voms-server
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install voms-server.
Install voms-server on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install voms-server
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install voms-server
Install voms-server on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh

How To Uninstall voms-server on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the voms-server
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove voms-server
