What is voms-mysql-plugin

The Virtual Organization Membership Service (VOMS) is an attribute authority which serves as central repository for VO user authorization information, providing support for sorting users into group hierarchies, keeping track of their roles and other attributes in order to issue trusted attribute certificates and SAML assertions used in the Grid environment for authorization purposes. This package offers the MySQL implementation for the VOMS server.

We can use yum or dnf to install voms-mysql-plugin on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install voms-mysql-plugin.

Install voms-mysql-plugin on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install voms-mysql-plugin using dnf by running the following command:

How To Uninstall voms-mysql-plugin on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the voms-mysql-plugin package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove voms-mysql-plugin
