How To Install sssd-winbind-idmap on CentOS 8

sssd-winbind-idmap is SSSD’s idmap_sss Backend for Winbind

In this tutorial we learn how to install sssd-winbind-idmap on CentOS 8.

What is sssd-winbind-idmap

The idmap_sss module provides a way for Winbind to call SSSD to map UIDs/GIDs and SIDs.

We can use yum or dnf to install sssd-winbind-idmap on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install sssd-winbind-idmap.

Install sssd-winbind-idmap on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install sssd-winbind-idmap using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install sssd-winbind-idmap

How To Uninstall sssd-winbind-idmap on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the sssd-winbind-idmap package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove sssd-winbind-idmap
