How To Install sssd-ad on CentOS 8

sssd-ad is The AD back end of the SSSD

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install sssd-ad on CentOS 8.

What is sssd-ad

Provides the Active Directory back end that the SSSD can utilize to fetch identity data from and authenticate against an Active Directory server.

We can use yum or dnf to install sssd-ad on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install sssd-ad.

Install sssd-ad on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install sssd-ad using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install sssd-ad

How To Uninstall sssd-ad on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the sssd-ad package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove sssd-ad
