How To Install srcpd on CentOS 8

srcpd is Simple Railroad Command Protocol (SRCP) server

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install srcpd on CentOS 8.

What is srcpd

Simple Railroad Command Protocol (SRCP) is a communication protocol designed to integrate various models of railroad systems. The srcpd acts a gateway between any kind of model railway systems and user interface programs that support SRCP. IANA assigned TCP port 4303 to it.

We can use yum or dnf to install srcpd on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install srcpd.

Install srcpd on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install srcpd using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install srcpd

Install srcpd on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall srcpd on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the srcpd package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove srcpd
