How To Install spax on CentOS 8

spax is Portable archive exchange

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install spax on CentOS 8.

What is spax

The pax utility shall read and write archives, write lists of the members of archive files and copy directory hierarchies as is defined in IEEE Std 1003.1.

We can use yum or dnf to install spax on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install spax.

Install spax on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install spax using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install spax

How To Uninstall spax on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the spax package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove spax
