In this tutorial we learn how to install soci-postgresql on CentOS 8.

What is soci-postgresql

This package contains the PostGreSQL back-end for soci, i.e., dynamic library specific to the PostGreSQL database. If you would like to use soci in your programs with PostGreSQL, you will need to install soci-postgresql.

We can use yum or dnf to install soci-postgresql on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install soci-postgresql.

Install soci-postgresql on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install soci-postgresql using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install soci-postgresql

How To Uninstall soci-postgresql on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the soci-postgresql package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove soci-postgresql
