scala-swing is The swing library for the scala programming languages

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install scala-swing on CentOS 8.

What is scala-swing

This package contains the swing library for the scala programming languages. This library is required to develope GUI-releate applications in scala. The release provided by this package is not the original version from upstream because this version is not compatible with JDK-1.7.

We can use yum or dnf to install scala-swing on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install scala-swing.

Install scala-swing on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install scala-swing using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install scala-swing

How To Uninstall scala-swing on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the scala-swing package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove scala-swing
