In this tutorial we learn how to install rpminspect on CentOS 8.

What is rpminspect

Build deviation and compliance tool. This program runs a number of tests against one or two builds of source RPM files. The built artifacts are inspected and compared to report changes and validate policy compliance against the defined parameters.

We can use yum or dnf to install rpminspect on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install rpminspect.

Install rpminspect on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install rpminspect using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install rpminspect

How To Uninstall rpminspect on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the rpminspect package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove rpminspect
