What is root-sql-odbc
This package contains the ODBC (Open DataBase Connectivity) plugin for ROOT, that allows transparent access to any kind of database that supports the ODBC protocol.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install root-sql-odbc
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install root-sql-odbc.
Install root-sql-odbc on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install root-sql-odbc
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install root-sql-odbc
Install root-sql-odbc on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum

How To Uninstall root-sql-odbc on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the root-sql-odbc
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove root-sql-odbc
