How To Install rls on CentOS 8

rls is Rust Language Server for IDE integration

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install rls on CentOS 8.

What is rls

The Rust Language Server provides a server that runs in the background, providing IDEs, editors, and other tools with information about Rust programs. It supports functionality such as ‘goto definition’, symbol search, reformatting, and code completion, and enables renaming and refactorings.

We can use yum or dnf to install rls on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install rls.

Install rls on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install rls using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install rls

Install rls on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall rls on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the rls package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove rls
