How To Install rhn-setup on CentOS 8

rhn-setup is Configure and register an RHN/Spacewalk client

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install rhn-setup on CentOS 8.

What is rhn-setup

rhn-setup contains programs and utilities to configure a system to use Red Hat Satellite or Spacewalk, and to register a system with a Red Hat Satellite or Spacewalk server.

We can use yum or dnf to install rhn-setup on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install rhn-setup.

Install rhn-setup on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install rhn-setup using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install rhn-setup

Install rhn-setup on CentOS 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

After updating yum database, We can install rhn-setup using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install rhn-setup

How To Uninstall rhn-setup on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the rhn-setup package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove rhn-setup
