How To Install redfish-finder on CentOS 8

redfish-finder is Utility for parsing SMBIOS information and configuring canonical BMC access

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install redfish-finder on CentOS 8.

What is redfish-finder

Scans Smbios information for type 42 management controller information, and uses that to configure the appropriate network interface so that the BMC is canonically accessible via the host name redfish-localhost

We can use yum or dnf to install redfish-finder on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install redfish-finder.

Install redfish-finder on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install redfish-finder using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install redfish-finder

How To Uninstall redfish-finder on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the redfish-finder package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove redfish-finder
