How To Install recode-devel on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install recode-devel
on CentOS 8.
What is recode-devel
The
recode' library converts files between character sets and usages. The library recognizes or produces nearly 150 different character sets and is able to transliterate files between almost any pair. When exact transliteration are not possible, it may get rid of the offending characters or fall back on approximations. We can use yum
or dnf
to install recode-devel
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install recode-devel.
Install recode-devel on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install recode-devel
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install recode-devel
Install recode-devel on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh

How To Uninstall recode-devel on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the recode-devel
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove recode-devel

/usr/include/recodext.h
/usr/lib/librecode.so
/usr/include/recode.h
/usr/include/recodext.h
/usr/lib64/librecode.so
