How To Install psmisc on CentOS 8

psmisc is Utilities for managing processes on your system

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install psmisc on CentOS 8.

What is psmisc

The psmisc package contains utilities for managing processes on your system a tree structure of all of the running processes on your system. The killall command sends a specified signal (SIGTERM if nothing is specified) to processes identified by name. The fuser command identifies the PIDs of processes that are using specified files or filesystems. The pslog command shows the path of log files owned by a given process.

We can use yum or dnf to install psmisc on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install psmisc.

Install psmisc on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install psmisc using dnf by running the following command:

How To Uninstall psmisc on CentOS 8
