How To Install preproc on CentOS 8

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install preproc on CentOS 8.

What is preproc

Simple text preprocessor implementing a very basic templating language. You can use bash code enclosed in triple braces in a text file and then pipe content of that file to preproc. preproc will replace each of the tags with stdout of the executed code and print the final renderred result to its own stdout.

We can use yum or dnf to install preproc on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install preproc.

Install preproc on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install preproc using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install preproc

Install preproc on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall preproc on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the preproc package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove preproc
