How To Install petsc64 on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install petsc64
on CentOS 8.
What is petsc64
PETSc, pronounced PET-see (the S is silent), is a suite of data structures and routines for the scalable (parallel) solution of scientific applications modeled by partial differential equations (64bit INTEGER).
We can use yum
or dnf
to install petsc64
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install petsc64.
Install petsc64 on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install petsc64
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install petsc64
Install petsc64 on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.

How To Uninstall petsc64 on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the petsc64
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove petsc64
