How To Install pavucontrol on CentOS 8

pavucontrol is Volume control for PulseAudio

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install pavucontrol on CentOS 8.

What is pavucontrol

PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol) is a simple GTK based volume control tool (“mixer”) for the PulseAudio sound server. In contrast to classic mixer tools this one allows you to control both the volume of hardware devices and of each playback stream separately.

We can use yum or dnf to install pavucontrol on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pavucontrol.

Install pavucontrol on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install pavucontrol using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install pavucontrol

How To Uninstall pavucontrol on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the pavucontrol package we can use the following command:
