How To Install osad on CentOS 8

osad is Open Source Architecture Daemon

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install osad on CentOS 8.

What is osad

OSAD agent receives commands over jabber protocol from Spacewalk Server and commands are instantly executed. This package effectively replaces the behavior of rhnsd/rhn_check that only poll the Spacewalk Server from time to time.

We can use yum or dnf to install osad on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install osad.

Install osad on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install osad using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install osad

Install osad on CentOS 8 Using yum

After updating yum database, We can install osad using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install osad

How To Uninstall osad on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the osad package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove osad
