Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install openldap on CentOS 8.

What is openldap

OpenLDAP is an open source suite of LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) applications and development tools. LDAP is a set of protocols for accessing directory services (usually phone book style information, but other information is possible) over the Internet, similar to the way DNS (Domain Name System) information is propagated over the Internet. The openldap package contains configuration files, libraries, and documentation for OpenLDAP. openldap 2.4.46 17.el8_4 i686 370 k openldap-2.4.46-17.el8_4.src.rpm baseos LDAP support libraries http OpenLDAP OpenLDAP is an open source suite of LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) applications and development tools. We can use yum or dnf to install openldap on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install openldap.

Install openldap on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:
