How To Install openbgpd on CentOS 8

openbgpd is OpenBGPD Routing Daemon

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install openbgpd on CentOS 8.

What is openbgpd

OpenBGPD is a free implementation of the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Version 4. It allows ordinary machines to be used as routers exchanging routes with other systems speaking the BGP protocol. This is the portable version and it does not have the means to influence kernel routing tables. It is only suitable for route servers/collectors.

We can use yum or dnf to install openbgpd on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install openbgpd.

Install openbgpd on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh
