How To Install nsntrace on CentOS 8

nsntrace is Perform network trace of a program by using network namespaces

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install nsntrace on CentOS 8.

What is nsntrace

The nsntrace program uses Linux network namespaces to perform network traces of a single application. The traces are saved as pcap files. And can later be analyzed by for instance Wireshark.

We can use yum or dnf to install nsntrace on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install nsntrace.

Install nsntrace on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install nsntrace using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install nsntrace

Install nsntrace on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall nsntrace on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the nsntrace package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove nsntrace
