How To Install metis on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install metis
on CentOS 8.
What is metis
METIS is a set of serial programs for partitioning graphs, partitioning finite element meshes, and producing fill reducing orderings for sparse matrices. The algorithms implemented in METIS are based on the multilevel recursive-bisection, multilevel k-way, and multi-constraint partitioning schemes developed in our lab. METIS is distributed with OpenMP support. metis 5.1.0 17.el8 x86_64 576 k metis-5.1.0-17.el8.src.rpm powertools Serial Graph Partitioning and Fill-reducing Matrix Ordering http ASL 2.0 and BSD and LGPLv2+ METIS is a set of serial programs for partitioning graphs, partitioning finite element meshes, and producing fill reducing orderings for sparse matrices. We can use yum
or dnf
to install metis
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install metis.
Install metis on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install metis
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install metis
