How To Install lz4 on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lz4
on CentOS 8.
What is lz4
LZ4 is an extremely fast loss-less compression algorithm, providing compression speed at 400 MB/s per core, scalable with multi-core CPU. It also features an extremely fast decoder, with speed in multiple GB/s per core, typically reaching RAM speed limits on multi-core systems.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install lz4
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lz4.
Install lz4 on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

Metadata cache created.
After updating yum database, We can install lz4
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lz4
