How To Install lyx on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lyx on CentOS 8.
What is lyx
LyX is a modern approach to writing documents which breaks with the obsolete “typewriter paradigm” of most other document preparation systems. It is designed for people who want professional quality output with a minimum of time and effort, without becoming specialists in typesetting. The major innovation in LyX is WYSIWYM (What You See Is What You Mean). That is, the author focuses on content, not on the details of formatting. This allows for greater productivity, and leaves the final typesetting to the backends (like LaTeX) that are specifically designed for the task. With LyX, the author can concentrate on the contents of his writing, and let the computer take care of the rest.
We can use yum or dnf to install lyx on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lyx.
Install lyx on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install lyx using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lyx
Install lyx on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.

How To Uninstall lyx on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the lyx package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove lyx
