How To Install lshw on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lshw
on CentOS 8.
What is lshw
lshw is a small tool to provide detailed informaton on the hardware configuration of the machine. It can report exact memory configuration, firmware version, mainboard configuration, CPU version and speed, cache configuration, bus speed, etc. on DMI-capable x86 systems and on some PowerPC machines (PowerMac G4 is known to work). Information can be output in plain text, XML or HTML.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install lshw
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lshw.
Install lshw on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install lshw
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lshw
Install lshw on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall lshw on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the lshw
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove lshw
