How To Install libXNVCtrl on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libXNVCtrl
on CentOS 8.
What is libXNVCtrl
This packages contains the libXNVCtrl library from the nvidia-settings application. This library provides the NV-CONTROL API for communicating with the proprietary NVidia xorg driver. This package does not contain the nvidia-settings tool itself as that is included with the proprietary drivers themselves. libXNVCtrl 352.21 9.el8 x86_64 27 k libXNVCtrl-352.21-9.el8.src.rpm appstream Library providing the NV-CONTROL API ftp GPLv2+ This packages contains the libXNVCtrl library from the nvidia-settings application. We can use yum
or dnf
to install libXNVCtrl
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libXNVCtrl.
Install libXNVCtrl on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install libXNVCtrl
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libXNVCtrl
Install libXNVCtrl on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.

How To Uninstall libXNVCtrl on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the libXNVCtrl
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libXNVCtrl
