How To Install lapack64 on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lapack64 on CentOS 8.
What is lapack64
LAPACK (Linear Algebra PACKage) is a standard library for numerical linear algebra. LAPACK provides routines for solving systems of simultaneous linear equations, least-squares solutions of linear systems of equations, eigenvalue problems, and singular value problems. Associated matrix factorizations (LU, Cholesky, QR, SVD, Schur, and generalized Schur) and related computations (i.e., reordering of Schur factorizations and estimating condition numbers) are also included. LAPACK can handle dense and banded matrices, but not general sparse matrices. Similar functionality is provided for real and complex matrices in both single and double precision. LAPACK is coded in Fortran90 and built with gcc. This build has 64bit INTEGER support.
We can use yum or dnf to install lapack64 on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lapack64.
Install lapack64 on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:
CentOS Linux 8 - AppStream 43 kB/s | 4.3 kB 00:00
CentOS Linux 8 - BaseOS 65 kB/s | 3.9 kB 00:00
CentOS Linux 8 - ContinuousRelease 43 kB/s | 3.0 kB 00:00

After updating yum database, We can install lapack64 using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lapack64
