How To Install kokkos on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install kokkos
on CentOS 8.
What is kokkos
Kokkos Core implements a programming model in C++ for writing performance portable applications targeting all major HPC platforms. For that purpose it provides abstractions for both parallel execution of code and data management. Kokkos is designed to target complex node architectures with N-level memory hierarchies and multiple types of execution resources. It currently can use OpenMP, Pthreads and CUDA as backend programming models.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install kokkos
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install kokkos.
Install kokkos on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install kokkos
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install kokkos
Install kokkos on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh

using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install kokkos
How To Uninstall kokkos on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the kokkos
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove kokkos
