In this tutorial we learn how to install httping on CentOS 8.

What is `httping`

Httping is like ‘ping’ but for http-requests. Give it an url, and it’ll show you how long it takes to connect, send a request and retrieve the reply (only the headers). Be aware that the transmission across the network also takes time.

We can use yum or dnf to install httping on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install httping.

Install httping on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install httping using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install httping

How To Uninstall httping on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the httping package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove httping
