Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install glusterfs-api on CentOS 8.

What is glusterfs-api

GlusterFS is a distributed file-system capable of scaling to several petabytes. It aggregates various storage bricks over Infiniband RDMA or TCP/IP interconnect into one large parallel network file system. GlusterFS is one of the most sophisticated file systems in terms of features and extensibility. It borrows a powerful concept called Translators from GNU Hurd kernel. Much of the code in GlusterFS is in user space and easily manageable. This package provides the glusterfs libgfapi library.

We can use yum or dnf to install glusterfs-api on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install glusterfs-api.

Install glusterfs-api on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install glusterfs-api using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install glusterfs-api

How To Uninstall glusterfs-api on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the glusterfs-api package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove glusterfs-api
