What is git-subtree

Git subtrees allow subprojects to be included within a subdirectory of the main project, optionally including the subproject’s entire history.

We can use yum or dnf to install git-subtree on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install git-subtree.

Install git-subtree on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install git-subtree using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install git-subtree

How To Uninstall git-subtree on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the git-subtree package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove git-subtree
