How To Install getdns on CentOS 8

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install getdns on CentOS 8.

What is getdns

getdns is a modern asynchronous DNS API. It implements DNS entry points from a design developed and vetted by application developers, in an API specification edited by Paul Hoffman. With the development of this API, we intend to offer application developers a modernized and flexible way to access DNS security (DNSSEC) and other powerful new DNS features; a particular hope is to inspire application developers towards innovative security solutions in their applications.

We can use yum or dnf to install getdns on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install getdns.

Install getdns on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install getdns using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install getdns

Install getdns on CentOS 8 Using yum

How To Uninstall getdns on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the getdns package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove getdns
