How To Install geocode-glib on CentOS 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install geocode-glib
on CentOS 8.
What is geocode-glib
geocode-glib is a convenience library for the geocoding (finding longitude, and latitude from an address) and reverse geocoding (finding an address from coordinates). It uses Nominatim service to achieve that. It also caches (reverse-)geocoding requests for faster results and to avoid unnecessary server load. geocode-glib 3.26.0 3.el8 x86_64 72 k geocode-glib-3.26.0-3.el8.src.rpm appstream Geocoding helper library http LGPLv2+ geocode-glib is a convenience library for the geocoding (finding longitude, and latitude from an address) and reverse geocoding (finding an address from coordinates). We can use yum
or dnf
to install geocode-glib
on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install geocode-glib.
Install geocode-glib on CentOS 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
The output should look something like this:

After updating yum database, We can install geocode-glib
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install geocode-glib
Install geocode-glib on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh

How To Uninstall geocode-glib on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the geocode-glib
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove geocode-glib
