Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install gdbm on CentOS 8.

What is gdbm

Gdbm is a GNU database indexing library, including routines which use extensible hashing. Gdbm works in a similar way to standard UNIX dbm routines. Gdbm is useful for developers who write C applications and need access to a simple and efficient database or who are building C applications which will use such a database. If you’re a C developer and your programs need access to simple database routines, you should install gdbm. You’ll also need to install gdbm-devel. gdbm 1 1.18 1.el8 i686 133 k gdbm-1.18-1.el8.src.rpm baseos A GNU set of database routines which use extensible hashing http GPLv3+ Gdbm is a GNU database indexing library, including routines which use extensible hashing. We can use yum or dnf to install gdbm on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install gdbm.

Install gdbm on CentOS 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

The output should look something like this:
